The Honorable Chairman White
Gallatin County Commission

RE: Rouse Public Safety Complex
Dear Chairman White,
Thank you for your letter of inquiry regarding the Rouse Public Safety Complex.
As you are well aware, building a new public safety facility has been a long standing priority for the city
commission and we appreciate the partnership and resources of the county in helping address this
critical issue. Unfortunately, it still remains.
After several unsuccessful attempts to pass a bond measure to accomplish this priority, we are taking
the time needed to consider the costs and benefits of the options for the community — a public safety
complex on Rouse avenue and the joint project with the county — before going back to the voters. It is
wise and prudent to do so.
To reiterate, both projects are still being considered. The complex on Rouse includes several capital
needs and therefore the design has taken additional time to prepare.
I can assure you that the commission has not seen any plans on this project nor has any decision been
made. A tentative date of Monday,April 23, 2018 is currently scheduled for the review on this item and
I will follow up with you as soon as a decision has been made.
