PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials. Discuss significant architectural features. This detached two-story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with gable roof over the stoop and an addition to the rear. The one-bay facade is symmetrical and consists of a central glass-paned entrance flanked by two fixed windows with a 2/2 sash arrangement. There are three double-hung 1/1 windows on the second story. The frame construction is finished in masonite and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with green asphalt shingles and features boxed, overhanging eaves. There are three metal stovepipes. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This residence was built by Annie McLaughlin in the early 1880s. Interested in the education of Catholic children, she began St. Agnes Academy, held in a one-story frame dwelling, probably located on her lots. This school was held for only about seven years until it was disbanded and held elsewhere. Significance: This structure is a neutral element within a potential historic district .
