PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached two-story single-family residence has an L-shaped plan with a bracketed corner decorative wood frieze under a hipped front porch roof supported by two wood-turned columns. The frame construction is finished in new shingles and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with unknown material and features a shed-roofed back addition. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property wa-s- built by George Huffman, an early Bozeman resident. Born , in 1836, he followed the gold strikes to Virginia City, Montana and to Bozeman in 1866.= He ranched in the Gallatin Valley, residing part of the year there and part in town. This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to its association with the residential aspect of the Village Phase of Bozeman ►s historic/architectural development. The historic integrity of this property has been retained due to the survival of original design and continuity of use, setting and location.
