PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached one-and-one-half story single=family residence has an L-shaped plan with a bracketed hood over the front door. The two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance with fixed and 1/1 double-hung and casement windows with a brickwork arch above the fixed windows. The frame construction is finished in brick veneer and bevel siding and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with grey asphalt shingles and features dormers and a metal stovepipe. The axis of the main roof is parallel to the street. A new gable has been added to the back and what was previously the porch has now been enclosed with a shed roof. Outbuildings include a flat-roofed garage. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structurelsite and surrounding area lend the property significance. This residence property was built by and for Alfred Lycan, a local builder, probably as a rental. He held the property until 1901. This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to its association with the residential aspect of the Civic Phase of Bozeman 's historic/architectural development.
