Tracy Ave. 1985 Revision Matt Cohen I I This typical trigabled, vernacular 19th century brick house in Bozeman has an altered porch, but otherwise remains intact. It occupies a prominent corner lcoation. The house was built in 1892 by A.E. and Charles Goddard, two brothers who worked together as brick masons. In 1900, Will Haley, a clerk at the Willson Co. department store on Main St. , was listed as a boarder here. By 1904, John P. haley, a horse breeder and rancher was living here as well, and remained through the 191teens. Another family member, John R. Haley, a butcher at the Kopp Co. , lived here briefly from about 1910 through 1912, before moving to Wilsall, MT. By 1927, Arnold M. Swanson, manager of the Texas Co. , was the resident here. AUG E,::PSED 403 North Tracy Avenue This detached one and a half story single family residence has an `L' plan, a shed roofed corner porch with one decorative metal post. A one and a half story addition is to the west and a one story addition is to the south. The one bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off center arched front wood and glass entry, with first floor: (1)(1) arched windows; second floor: (1/1) window, and features arched brick keystones and stone window sills. The frame construction is clad in brick veneer with wood imbricated shingles in the east gable, and rests on a concrete foundation. The additions are clad in drop siding. The gable roof is covered by asphalt shingles, has a low pitch shed roof over the addition to the south, an extended gable over the addition to the west with two gabled dormers facing south and boxed eaves. The main axis is parallel to the street. Families? Construction? Chimneys?
