This typical trigabled, vernacular 19th century brick house in Bozeman has an
altered porch, but otherwise remains intact. It occupies a prominent corner
lcoation. The house was built in 1892 by A.E. and Charles Goddard, two brothers
who worked together as brick masons. In 1900, Will Haley, a clerk at the Willson
Co. department store on Main St. , was listed as a boarder here. By 1904, John
P. haley, a horse breeder and rancher was living here as well, and remained
through the 191teens. Another family member, John R. Haley, a butcher at the
Kopp Co. , lived here briefly from about 1910 through 1912, before moving to
Wilsall, MT. By 1927, Arnold M. Swanson, manager of the Texas Co. , was the
resident here.
