One of the best remaining examples of the I-House building type in Bozeman,
this frame house has the characteristic gable end bay window, as well as the
! two large, eaves front windows, each topped by a leaded transom, and two gable
wall dormers, two more unusual features for this building type. A similar,
though more elaborate example of the type in the district is 322 N. Tracy.
Early history of the house is unknown. From about 1910 to about 1916, Alexander
McLain, an engineer, was living here. By 1927, William M. Krause, a laborer
with teh Northern Pacific Railroad, was living here.
