PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structureisite,then contrast and compare that wlth it's original appearance,

This three-story commercial structure (previously an industrial structure)
has a rectangular plan. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of
a central paneled front entrance with 2/1 or 1/1 double-hung windows, with
half-circle glass windows in the top of the arches. The brick construction
has ornamental brickwork between floors and along the top. It rests on a
rock-faced cut-stone foundation. The flat roof is covered with metal on
the edges. The axis of the roof if parallel to the street. There are two
attached additions , one of brick and one of cement block.

This property is significant because this commercial structure is associated
with a person important in Bozeman history, Julius Lehrkind. Lehrkind settled
in Bozeman in 1895 and established the Genuine Lager Brewery, the large brick
structure located at this address. In 1898 Lehrkind built his residence just
south of the brewery. The brewery continued until prohibition when a soft
drink company was established. The family continues today with this business.

Significance: This structure is potentially eligible for the National Register
because of its association with historic persons and its architectural integrity
of materials, location , setting and design.
