222 S. Tracy
Of only marginal significance due to substantial alteration, this
house, prominently located on a corner lot, is nevertheless signi-
ficant for its unusual molded concrete ("pressed stone") veneer on
the first floor. Alterations have included complete replacement of
windows, door and proch, and the sheathing of all gables and cross
gables with asbestos shingles. The house, along with a carriage house
of the same material behind it, appears on the 1912 Sanborn Map
labeled: "Unfinished and Abandoned. " Though Harry W. Beimstroh is
listed on the water permit as the owner, he never lived here. By
fi1927, the locally famous theatre operator Alex M. Russel , who ran
the Ellen and Rialto Theatres lived here. In 1936 he built the
Joyce Theatre. All three are still standing on Main Street.
