Tracy The best preserved of a group of three nearly identical houses (412 and 1 416 S. Tracy being the others) , all built by local carpenter, John A. Bartholomew, this house is an excellent example of a vernacular Queen Anne style pattern book design. It seems to have clearly been derived from "House Design No. 1096" in Fred T. Hodgson's turn-of-the—century mail order house pattern catalog (see appendix) . There are other houses in the city of nearly identical design as well . Bartholomew' s brother, Elmer Bartholomew, was an especially notable and prolific early 20th century builder in Bozeman. The original owner of this house is unknown. In 1927, Lyle V. Richards. a travel agent employed by the Bozeman Automobile Co. , was living here. Bibliography Application for Sewer Connection, 420 S.
