210 S. Black
An excellent example of Depression period residential architecture, this
eclectic house combines diverse elements for a unique overall effect.
Of note is the varied sheathing - a stuccoed first floor and a shingled
upper floor, the Jerkin head roof, peaked lintel boards, door with small-
light transom and sidelights, and the bay window/porch on front. The
house was probably built by Arthur A. Allen, a real estate salesman, for
rental . Allen himself lived at 307 S. Balck. In 1933 Mrs. Anna Richter
(window of Arnold Richter) and Mrs. Florence Robinson (widow of John M.
1 Robinson) , were sharing the house.
The house is of primary significance in the district, and stands adjacent
to three other equally significant houses.
