The house originally had only one central door. His father-in-law and business partner Hiram H. Stone, built a 1 vartually identical house orignially nextddoor to this one, 408 S. Black. Stone's house however, is punctuated by two shed wall dormers, and has undergone considerable alteration. The 1898 Bird' s Eye View shows both houses as a distinct pair on this street. Perkins, who settled in Montana in 1870 from Ohio, was listed as Bozeman Police Magistrate in 1892. By 1900, John W. Nelson, a farmer, was living here.. Nelsons sons , Frank and Lester, soon established the "Nelson Bros. " Livery and Cab Line business, which operated from this site. The two brothers lived in 312 and 316 S.
