Black An excellent, well-preserved example of a Colonial Revival style pattern book design, this house was built around 1911 by Walter W. Livingston, manager of the Madison River Power Co. at the time, and later manager of the Montana Power Co. (presumably the Bozeman Office. ) Livingston had previously lived next door at 401 S. Black. The house is similar to several found in the Cooper Park Historic District. Livingston settled in Montana in 1883, from Pennsylvania. In 1892 he was manager of the Bozeman Opera House. In addition to the power companies noted above, Livingston was also employed by the y Gallatin and Bozeman Street Railway Co. , and the Gallatin Light Power & Railway Co. between 1900 and 1916. By 1916 he was living at the Blackmore Apartments. The resident here in 1927 was Everett L. Riddell , a telephone operator with the Northern Pacific Railroad.
