As the arched windows of this unusual building suggest, this structure
! was originally associated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church which
` stands next to it at 415 S. Black. City directories list the building,
1 which replaced a small house on the site in 1933, as the Montana Book
a.nd Bible House, Montana Confe'ence of Seventh Day Adventists , John L.
McConaughey, president. On the sewer permit for another related building,
411 S. Black - a small bible school just north of the church - is a
sketch map that labels this building "office. " Note: the sketch map
may post-date the permit itself, which was issued in 1917.
The curve of the north roof pitch is an architectural feature typical
of the 1930' s
