This attached two-and-one-half story commercial structure has a rectangular plan with a streel-level awning over one-half of the front facade and an inset entrance in the other half. The symmetrical facade consists of two entrances with storefront windows at streetlevel and 2-paned pivotal wood windows set into three bays on the second floor. Tiny fixed multi-paned windows appear on the top level . The brick running bond construction is finished in stucco on the street level and bonds of brick divide the building up into nine sections by corbelling out 1 ". The flat built-up roof lies perpendicular to the street. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: -Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance, This property is associated with a person important to Bozeman history, Achilles Lamme. Lamme, born in 1857 was trained as a physician at the St. Louis Medical School. Choosing to follow the gold strikes, Lamme came to Montana in 1865, setting up a dry goods store rather than practicing medicine. In 1866, he established a business with John S. Mendenhall selling dry goods. Lamme was associated with at least three business houses, 27 East Main, A. Lamme & Co. built about 1882 and 9 East Main built in 1887, Raleigh, Lamme & Co. Raleigh was William B. Raleigh, a dry goods merchant in Helena. Lamme died in 1888. His son Edison B. Lamme continued his business interests until 1901 with the Raleigh Lamme, and Co. that incorporated in 1893 as the Gallatin Valley Mercantile Company. This structure is a neutral element within a potential historic district. INTEGRITY.
