This one-story commercial structure has a square plan with three storefront bays divided by brick pilasters. The facade is symmetrical and consists of front entrances with aluminum storefront windows. Three colors of brick are employed to create decorative patterns in the facade above the storefronts. The brick construction is finished in cut flagstone on the lower level and white terra cotta coping above. Streetlevel remodeling has totally obscured the original storefront. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify ,ow the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property �nificance. This property was built by Thomas B. Ellis an early businessman engaged in dry goods business. Fie was first engaged in business in 209-215 East Main under the firm's name Ellis, Davis and Sperley, built in 1872. This structure is an intrusive element within a potential historic district. INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structure/site,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the property. The historic integrity of this property has not been retained due to change in original design and materials.
