PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,
noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials. Discuss significant architectural features.
This three-story commercial structure has a square plan with a slightly projecting
central bay over the front entrance of a darker brick than the wing bays.
There is a pediment-like cornice on this central bay with granite coping. The
symmetrical facade consists of a central front entrance with vertical 6/1 double-
hung windows, all with window lintels of dark brick and mock keystones, as well
as granite sills. There is a darker-brick horizontal banding on top of each
floor and an inset dark-er-brick design in the cornice. The brick construction
is finished with middle and upper band ornamentaion of cross brick motif. There
is a flat-built-up roof which is parallel to the street. A stained glass transom
over the main entrance was removed in 1983.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site
and surrounding area lend the property significance.
Built on the former site of one-story_frame and brick structures housing
a shooting gallery, meat market, second hand store, boot black and a
confectionery, the Hotel Baltimore provided up-to-date accommodations for
rtravelers as well as local residents during Bozeman' s Progressive Phase.
Boasted of as "Strictly Modern Throughout," the hotel featured hot and
cold running water and telephones in every room. At the street level
the hotel provided a lounge, lobby, sample room, telegraph room and
express office.
This structure is potentially eligible for the National Register because
of its historical significance and because of its architectural Integrity
of materials, location, setting, design and use.

property.
The historic integrity of this property has been retained due to the survival
of original design and materials and continuity of use, setting and location.
