PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,

This four-story commercial structure has a square plan with a corner turreted
bay of five stories and a slightly projected front bay with a semi-circular
overhang above the central front entrance. There are corbeled arches over the
main floor windows with elaborate stained-glass in the arches. There are large
stone lintels and sills at all windows and the top floor windows are also
arched. A corbeled and denitled brick pattern forms three bands around the
building and a decorative metal cornice tops the flat roof. The brick con-
struction was cleaned by sandblasting in 1975, and the foundation is of cut
stone. The building is parallel to the street.

This property is significant because it is associated with the early commercial
development of Bozeman. The Hotel Bozemanwas designed by George Hancock of
Fargo, North Dakota and Helena. The hotel was the first major hotel in
Bozeman to be built in the "Grand Hotel" fashion. The hotel suffered
financial hardships over the next several years and changed managers
frequently.
This structure Is potentially eligible for the National Register because
of Its historical associations and because of Its architectural significance.

The historic integrity of this property has been retained due to the survival
of original design and materials and continuity of use, setting and location.
