PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,

This detached two-story single-family residence has a square plan with a hipped
front porch, supported by six wood pillars. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical
and consists of a central glass-paned front entrance with fixed leaded glass
windows. The second story has double-hung 1/1 windows with wood lintels. The
frame construction is finished in weatherboard and has both fishscale and square
wooden shingles in the gable ends. It rests on a rubble foundation. The gable
roof is covered with asphalt and wood shignles and features gabled dormers and
a central brick chimney. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street.

Built for Matthew R. Wilson and occupied by him in September, 1904, this typical ,
vernacular pattern book house remains very well preserved today. Wilson is listed
as a register with the U.S. Land Office, the earliest directory he is listed in,
and as a lawyer in the 1916-17 directory. Wilson was listed here as late' at the
1935-6 directory, while by 1940, Mrs. Nettie L. Wilson was the listed occupant,
Probably his widow, who continuedto live here into the 1940' s. Matthew Wilson had
previously lived at 210 South Grand (no longer standing) .
