Grand Revision 1985 This cubic house, with its steep hip roof, is well preserved, with the exception i of the asbestos sheathing, and was probably built for George E. McKenzie, a farmer, in 1889. The house appears on the 1889 Sanborn map (the earliest available for this location) , and is apparently mentioned in an Avant CQ rier article of 1889, though no reference is cited on the 1984 survey form. A vernacular interpretation of the Italianate style, the house is shown on the 1898 Bird's' Eye View of the city with an iron cresting encircling the peak of the truncated hip roof. George E. McKinsey is listed as the resident here in the 1892 and 1900 city directories, and as the owner o the 1904 sewer permit for the site. i h Bibliography City directories: 1892, p.133; 1900, p. 168.
