This detached two-and-one-half story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with a hip-roofed enclosed front porch across the front. The one-bay facade I is asymmetrical and consists of an off=center front entrance with fixed and 1/1 leaded glass double windows. The windows in the upper 2 sotry of the facade I suggest the Palladian. The frame construction is finished in metal siding and rests on a rubble foundation. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles and features shed-roofed dormers flanking a gable roof extension to the side. There is a central metal stovepipe. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street and features complete returning eaves. Outbuildings include a garage of wood. C.M: Thorpe was a civil engineer who came to Montana in 1891 from Minnesota. He I was employed by the city of Bozeman as civil engineer and surveyor and is respon- sible for several maps of the city. 1 Significance: This structure qualifies as a huti" element within a potential historic district due to its associations with the residential aspect of the Civic Phase of Bozeman' s historic/architectural development.
