This detached two-and-one-half story single-family residence in the Queen'Anne.Styl has a square plan with an asymmetrical two-bay facade. There is an off-center glass paned front entrance with fixed and 1/l .double-hung windows', the.wirad6ws in the upper hal-f-story containing stai-ned glass. The frame constructfon is finishec in composition shingles and hexagonal wooden shingles in the gable ends. The house. rests on -a rubble foundation. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles and features a central brick and exterior brick chimney. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street with a front-facing gable intersect. ' Additions to the house include a room in the back of the house. Outbuildings include a garage of composition shingles. Research into the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events connected to this property. Significance: This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential 'historic district. due to its association with the residential aspect. of the Civic Phase of Bozeman' s historic/architectural development. INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structurelsite,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the property. Grand Revision 1985 This moderately well-preserved vernacular house was probably built in 1903 for Mrs. Annie H. Davis, widow of photographer Evan Davis. Evan Davis is listed in the 1900 city directory as boarding at 603 W. Mendenhall, while Annie H. Davis is listed in the 1904-05 city directory as his widow, living here. Alterations to the house include removal of the original porch posts and rail, and the instal- lation of asbestos shingles. No evidence has been found to support the date and builder information on the 1984 inventory form - 1899 as the date and John Baverly as the builder.
