PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structurelsite,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,
noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss.significant architectural features.
This detached two-story single-family residence has an irregular plan with
a balustraded, gable-roofed front porch. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical
'' and consists of an -off-center front -entrance wi-th 1/1 shuttered double-hung
windows tin front; -a -combination 'of fixed-arid 1/T double-hung around', and casement
windows on the renovated second story. The slight gable roof is covered with
asphalt shingles and extends over a second-floor porch reached by a series of
wooden steps up the side of the structure. The frame construction is finished
in composition board and wood siding on the second story. Alterations include the
entire second story and the rear of the structure. The axis of the roof is
perpendicular to the street.

This brick house is non-contributing due to extensive alteration within the past
ten years that renders the original design unrecognizable.
Samual A. Mendenhall , president of the Gallatin Light, Power & Railroad Co. was
listed as the owner here in the 1904-5 city directory. F.K. Armstrong (see 501 S.
Grand) , is listed as the owner of this house on the 1914 sewer permit for the site.
The date and builder on the 1984 inventory form is yet to be verified.
