J. Svorkmoe PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials. Discuss significant architectural features. This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has an L-shaped plan with an enclosed porch filling in the space of the ell . The facade is asymmetrical and consists of an offset front entrance with 1/1 double-hung and stained glass windows , one of which is fixed with the stained glass in the upper portion. The steel frame construction is finished in brick veneer with imbricated patterned shingles in the gable ends and above the windows. The structure rests on a concrete foundation. The cross gable roof is covered with grey asphalt shingles and features returning eaves and a central brick chimney with metal cap. The alterations consists of an enclosed rear porch. Outbuildings include a garage of drop=sided wood. i HISTORICAL,SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. 1 This property was built by Andrew J . 'Svorkmoe, builder of many residences in this area. Md�t Cohen Revision 1985 This small brick cottage is one of the several well-preserved, excellent examples of similar Queen Anne style cottages found throughout the city. This one may have been built by local builder A.J. Svorkmoe. Syver Crest, a rancher who is listed at this address in 1904-5, may have been the original owner.
