This detached one-story single-family residence has a greek cross plan with several rooms added to the rear. The one-bay facade is symmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance with 1/1 double-hung windows and fixed windows with stained glass upper sections. The frame construction is finished in clapboard with shingles on the gable ends and plastic shutters on the windows. The struc- ture rests on a concrete foundation. The cross-gable roof is covered with black asphalt shingles and features returning eaves and a central brick chimney. Outbuildings include a garage with two bays and drop siding. This property was built by John Baver-ley, localbuilder of many houses in this area for Enoch Slack, a cabinetmaker. Matt Cohen Revision 1.985 One of a group of three very similar vernacular Queen Anne style houses , this house may have been built by local builder John Baverly. It was probably first occupied by William M. Cobleigh, a physics professor at Montana State College, before Cobleigh built a fine Bungalow style house at 909 S. 3rd Ave. Bibliography , Application for Sewer Connection: William M.
