PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,
noting additions, alterations, and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features.
A striking eaves front, clapboard Bungalow with a dramatically flared roof that
shelters a glassed-in porch. A large, shed roofed dormer is terminated at either
end by gables.
I HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons, important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site
and surrounding area lend the property significance.
This striking example of the Bungalow style, especially visible due to its corner
location, is very well preserved, and is of primary significance in the historic
district, based on architectural significance. It was probably built in 1917 by
C.W. Sweet, possibly the proprietor of the Sweet Co. , a coal distributing firm.
The house is one of a group of three fine Bungalows at this intersection. Because
of the boldness of proportion and detailing, the house appears to be the work of
local builder Elmer Bartholomew.
INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structure/site,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the
property.
INFORMATION VALUE: Explain how the extant structure/site may demonstrate or yield information about its historic use or construc-
tion.
