Discuss significant architectural features. This detached one-story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with an enclosed side entry with a shed roof. There is a shed-roofed garage attached to the other side. The two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of the side entrance vestibule, the garage bay with overhead door and fixed and 1/1 double-hung windows. The front window has colored glass. The frame construction is finished in asbestos siding and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with green asphalt shingles and features a central metal stovepipe. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street. Outbuildings include a garage to the rear. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,Important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structurelsite and-surrounding area lend the property-significance.- - Matt Cohen 208 S. Third Revision 1985 Though presently non-contributing due to alteration, this simple house could potentially be made eligible as a contributing structure through removal of the garage, enclosed porch, and asbestos shingle sheathing. The house does not appear on either the 1884 or 1898 bird' s eye views of the city. No evidence has been found to corroborate the attribution to P.S. Roundtree, which is made on the 1984 survey form. This structure is an intrusive element within a potential historic district. INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structurelsite, and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the property. The historic integrity of this property has not been retained due to change in original design and materials. INFORMATION VALUE: Explain how the extant structurelsite may demonstrate or yield information about its historic use or construc- tion. None. FORM PREPARED BY: TGEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: JAMES R.
