I ^ This detached one-and-one-half story single--family residence has an enclosed side entry with a shed roof. The two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center side vestibule with fixed and 1/1 double-hung windows with a stained glass window on the east side. The frame construction is finished in 12" masonite siding and rests on a cut stone foundation. The gable roof is ocvered with green-grey asphalt shingles and features shed-roofed dormers and a central brick chimney. The axis of the main roof is perpendicular to the I street. Outbuildings include a garage and a barn. Matt Cohen 209 S. Third Revision 1-985 Of marginal significance due to the enclosure of the entry porch and addition of asbestos shingle sheathing, this simple house was probably built by Byron T. Stanton, listed as a bookkeeper living here in 1892. Stanton settled in Bozeman in 1890 from Pennsylvania. In 1900, Stanton was secretary and treasurer of the Benepe-Ownenhouse Co. , and by 1910, he was the president of the Republican-Courier Co. , and residing in Helena. i Bibliography 1898 Bird' s Eye View (house appears on this site) .
