PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,
noting additions, alterations, and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features.
This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence with elements of
the Victorian style has a square plan with a small enclosed rear entryway and
a front corner porch coming off a one-and-one-half story corner bay projection
almost turret(' like, with a hexagonal conical roof. The front porch has a
firesided hipped roof with a gable over entrance. Four roman doric columns
support the roof. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an offset
glass-paned front entrance with double-hung windows with a 1/1 sash arrangement.
These are also fixed diamond and square pattern leaded glass windows . The 2nd-
floor 1/1 windows all have diamond panes in the upper sash. The frame construction
is finished in shingles on the gable ends and return eaves. The first floor
is finished in green asbestos siding and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable
roof is covered with dark green asbestos shingles and features two hip-roofed
dormers and a five-sided porch. There is one central brick chimney. The axis
of the roof is parallel to the street. The siding has been altered; it was
originally drop siding. There are no outbuildings.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons, important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site
and surrounding area lend the property significance.

Revision 1985
Typical of the overall high architectural quality found in the district, this
Queen Anne/Colonial Revival style house relates to its corner lot with a poly-
gonal tower. The house was probably built by Ernest S. Edsall , Assistant Cashier
at Gallatin Trust and Savings Bank. Edsall lived here as late as 1942, and
probably longer. The house is very well preserved, with the exception of the
asbestos shingle sheathing.
