This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has a greek cross sid
hall plan with many additions , but these are alternated to complement the original
form. The porch is shed roofed with three round wood columns and two entry doors.
The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an offset glass-paned front
entrance with double-hung windows with 2/2 and 1/1 sash arrangments, and a few
fixed leaded glass windows. The frame construction is finished in drop siding
with decorative shingles on the dormers. It rests on a cut stone foundation.
The cross-gable roof is covered with grey asbestos shingles and features two
gable roofed dormers and overhanging eaves. There is one offset exterior brick
chimney and one interior central brick chimeny. The axis of the roof is per-
pendicular to the street.

Revision 1985
This small , 19th century cottage is very well preserved. It may have been
built for J. Parks , a laborer who settled in Bozeman from Vermont in 1887,
and who is listed at this approximate location in the 1892 city directory.
Frank W. Machemer, a carpenter, lived here from about 1910 into the 1930' s,
and was variously employed during that time by the Bozeman Manufacturing Co. ,
Eschenbacher & Co. , and Machemer & Roberts.
