Revision 1985
An important element in the district due to its large size, this house relates
to its corner lot through a canted corner entrance and wrap-around porch with
a prominent corner entrance. The aluminum siding is a major detraction. The
house may have been built for Lewis E Safley, a physician and surgeon. By 1916,
Miles P. Lewis, a grocer, had moved here from 316 S. Third Ave. , and remained
until about 1940.
In 1895, Jesse B. Moore built a large barn on the corner of S. Third and Koch,
probably on this lot.
