PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached one-and-one-half story double-family residence with elements of the upright and wing style has an L-shaped plan with two shed roofed porches. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center glass-paned front entrance with double-hung windows with 1/1 sash arrangement. The frame construction is finished in imbricated shingle in gable ends with shiplap on the first floor. It rests on a cinderblock foundation. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles and features an unual peaked gable in the center of the house. There is one central metal capped brick chimney. Additions include a rear porch. Outbuildings include a garage. Third Revision 1985 Well preserved with the exception of the replacement ofthe original porch with the present non-contribl.lting one, this clapboard house, with its ornate gable I shingles , makes a significant contribution to the streetscape. Sometime between 1900 and 1904, Henry F. Sears , secretary, treasurer and manager, and later presi- dent and manager., of the Republican Courier Co. , occupied the house. His widow, Mrs. Emma H.
