In 1903, Gill sold the house to Frederick B. Linfield, also a professor at Montana State College. In 1916, Linfield was listed in the city directory as Director of the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station, and Dean of Agriculture at Montana State College. The Avant Courier in 1903 reported the following about this house: "Professor F.B. Linfield has purchased the residence of Professor J.H. Gill, 719 S. Third Ave. , and will move his family into the house at once. Professor Gill and wife leave this week for their new home in Decatur, Ill. , where Professor Gill will be instructor in mechanical and electrical engineering in Milliken University. " Linfield remained here into the 1940's. Bibliography Avant Courier, Sept. 4, 1903, p. 5.
