This detached one-and-one-half story singlefamily residence has a rectangular plan with an open front porch under the main roof that spans the width of the house. It is supported by brick columns, piers and a wood railing. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance flanked by double-hung 12/1 , 9/1 and 6/1 windows. There is a shed-roofed bay window 'on the left side of the house. The frame construction is finished in shingles and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable J roof is covered with shingles and features a shed-roofed dormer and overhang- ing eaves with exposed rafters. There is a central brick chimney. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street. Outbuildings include a garage. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property was built as a residence for Glilliam Cobleigh in 1912. Cobleigh came to teach in 1894 at the ?Montana Agricultural College in chemistry and physics. Ye served as Dean of Engineering from 1929 to 1949 and acting president for one year ;_n 1943 until his retirement a year later. Coh1PA Ph Pall nn cmmnus is named in his honor. Matt Cohen 909 S. Third Revision 1985 One of Bozeman's finest examples of the Bungalow style, this large house displays a variety of ornament and textures. The house was built for William M.
