This detached double-family one-story residence has an original L-shaped plan with a lower-roofed wrap=around addition on the ell joint and side. The enclosed hipped roof front entrance is off-center and windows are fixed with 1/1 double-hungs in the older portion of the structure. The frame construction is finished in horizontal wood siding and the addition features a second front entrance of multi-paned glass door with side panels resembling shutters. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property was built for E. J. Owenhouse, an early resident of Bozeman. Owenhouse was born in 1859 in Iowa and worked as a manufacturer of saddles and harnesses until he came to Bozeman in 1881. In 1890 with F. L. Benepe, he formed the Benepe-Owenhouse Company, dealers in mercantile goods as well as saddles and hardware. The hardware firm continues today under the Owenhouse name. This structure is an intrusive element within a potential historic district. INTEGRITY.
