Davison PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached two-and-one-half story single-family residence has an irregular plan with a gable-roofed wrap-around porch on the front corner with simulated half-timbers on pediments. The facade is asymmetrical and consists of an offset front entrance with a small fixed window on one facade and a leaded-glass bay window on the other. There are double-hung windows on the upper level and fixed, arched windows in the gable ends. The frame construction is finished in clapboard and shingles on the upper levels , and rests on a cut stone foundation. The gable-hipped combination roof is covered with cedar shingles and features returning boxed eaves and three brick chimneys , one interior and two exterior. The axis of the main roof is parallel to the street with a cross gable facing front. Outbuildings include a garage with gable roof and a second story. The front entrance is emphasized with Gothic Revival details. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance, This property is significant because the residence is associated with persons important in Bozeman history, C. S. Haire, Helena architect and Wells S. Davidson. Architect Haire designed this house for Davidson, president of Gallatin Trust and Savings Bond for 39 years. The family resided here for nearly 35 years. In 1898-99, Davidson built a house at 608 South Grand. Significance: This structure is potentially eligible for the National Register because of its historical associations and because of its architectural significance of materials , location, setting design and use. INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structure/site,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the property. The historic integrity of this property has been retained due to the survival of original design and materials and continuity of use, setting and location.
