This detached two-story single-family residence has a square plan with front and back porches on lattice bases and hipped roofs with gable overdoors. The symmetri- cal facade has an off-center front entrance with 2/2 double-hung windows with shutters and a lattice window in the dormer. The frame construction is finished in clapboard and rests on a cut stone foundation. The hipped roof is covered with cedar shingles and features gabled and hipped dormers and a central brick chimney. Outbuildings include a shiplap sided garage. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,impertant events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property was built for Agnes Foster, widow of Dr. Henry W. Foster, a prominent Bozeman physician and founder of the Foster Sanitarium. There is an open wooden porch across the front of the building supported by normal wooden columns . On the north there is a projecting two story bay and an outside door at grade level . The second floor windows have gray shutters ; the sidi, is painted white. 40. 610 S . Willson Built about 1906 by Mrs . Dr. Foster, the house by 1910 was the home of her son law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs . Claude P . Steffens. , He was president of H. A. Pease & Co. , jewelers (building no: 41 ) .
