This detached one-and-one-half story single family residence has an irregular
plan with an enclosed front porch and ornate wood front door on an asymmetrical
facade. Windows are 1/1 double-hung with stained-glass transoms with carved
wood brackets over them, and a stained glass windowsin front and on the upper
level . The frame construction is finished in brick coursing and rests on
an uncoursed rubble stone and cut stone foundation. The gable roof is covered
with cedar shingles and features dormers and a brick chimney on the outside
with corbeled cap, and well as two interior brick chimneys. The front porch
' was constructed of brick of a different appears , likely a later addition.
Outbuildings include a two-car, newly constructed garage. The house is con-
structed in the Queen Anne Cottage Style.

This property is significant because the residence is associated with a
person important to Bozeman history, William A. Tudor. Tudor, a dentist,
moved to Bozeman from Lexington in 1888 and had this house built for him.
Before his marriage in 1891, he had the house renovated, installing a hot
air furnace. In 1904, the Tudors built another home at 805 South Third.
Significance: This structure is potentially eligible for the National Register
because of its historical associations and because of its architectural signi-
ficance.
INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structure/site,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the
property.
The historic integrity of this property has been retained due to the survival
of original design and materials and continuity of use, setting and location.

This house, a one-and-one-half story red brick structure, was built before 189('
It has a bay window on the southeast corner. The tall narrow double-hung wood windo
have stained glass transom lights . The roof has numerous gables and planes.
the State Legislature in 1884, a member of the college board , and president of the
Farmers ' Canal Company which owned and operated the largest irrigating canal in the
county. After Robinson ' s death in this house in 1916 some of the subsequent owners
were Dr. J . A. Piedalue , Floyd L. Dye (who established F. L. Dye, Inc . , a plumbing
and heating service) , and Rhea Stitt (agronomist with the Montana Experiment Statiol,

The exact date of construction of this house is not known, but predates 1890.
In 1892 Dr. W. A. Tudor was living here . By 1900 the owner was John M. Robinson .
Robinson had come to Montana from Tennessee after serving in the Confederate army
and finally surrendering to General Grant at Vicksburg in 1863. He was paroled and
came to Montana in 1865, first mining in Virginia City and then homesteading in
Bozeman. In farming, in mining , and in other activities he was very successful . N
purchased this house to use for a winter residence for his family; his children
