This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has a square plan with an enclosed front vestibule with steep gable roof, and a second gabled roof extension above the vestibule. The facade is asymmetrical and con its of a central front entrance with fixed and 6/1 double-hung windows. The frame construc tion is finished in stucco with half timbers and the gable roof is covered with a dull brown painted cedar siding. The axis of the main roof is parallel to the street. Outbuildings include a two-car garage. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property is significant because it is associated with a person important in Bozeman history, Fred F. Willson. Son of General Lester S. UTillson, an early Bozeman pioneer, Willson was born in 1877 in Bozeman. He attended Montana State College for two years and graduated from Columbia University In architecture in 1902. He studied for two years abroad and upon his return, Willson practiced with C.S. Haire in Helena and Butte. In his long practice from 1910-1956, he designed many public, residential and commercial buildings. Willson designed this house for Charles Anceney a well-known rancher and " stockman of an early Gallatin Valley family. Significance: This structure is potentially eligible for the National Register due to its historical associations and because of its architectural location. The historic integrity of this property has been retained due to the survival of original design and materials and continuity of use, setting and location.
