This detached two-and-one-half story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with a one-story rear addition , and an open gabled front porch with wrought iron supports. The facade is asymmetrical and consists of an offset front entranc with 6/1 double-hung windows and a second story bay window. The frame constructio is finished in 4" clapboard and has shingles on the second and third stories. The structure rests on a cut steon foundation. The intersecting gable roof is covered with brown asphalt shingles and features boxed, slightly returning eaves . There is a central brick chimney. The outbuildings iincl.ude a barn-converted-to- garage of dropped wood siding. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,andlor historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance, This property is significant because it is associated with a person important to Bozeman history, George Y. Patten. As a young lawyer and later an Mate Justice of the Montana Supreme Court, Patten built this house in d. After a few years in residence here, he and his family moved to 804 South Third.
