Date : c. 1900
Significance : One of the few Queen Anne style houses in the
district , this house is historically related to the adjacent
streetscape of 19th century houses that line the north side of
W . Olive . On the 1904 Sanborn Map , the house is the farthest
south of that group of houses , which were among the first to fill
in the large area comprising this district .
In 1916 the house was occupied by Emmett W . Thompson , a barber
who rented space in the National Bank of Gallatin Valley building ,
still standing at 1 W . Main St . ( See 215 S . 5th ) In 1927 the house
was occupied by Martin F . Getchell , Secretary-Treasurer of the
Dokken-Getchell Funeral Home , which in 1926 had moved into a newly-
constructed business space in 25-39 S . Tracy . Clinton M Snider
is listed as the resident here in 1904 . The house does not appear
on the 1898 Bird ' s Eye View .
Integrity : This house retains high integrity overall , despite
the present non-contributing asphalt shingle siding , and the
removal of the first floor porch posts .
