Cohen 8n7err,nn, Montana 302 S . 5th Ave . 1985 revision Matt Cohen , surveys This simple , eaves front , Colonial Revival style pattern book house is a typical example of 1920 ' s residential design . It probably replaced the original house on this site , which was almost surely built by local carpenter W . H . Cline along with all other houses on this side of the block ( 302- 324 S . 5th in 1917 . Robert B . Oliver and his wife , Edith A . Oliver , resided in the ' house on this site in 1927 , which was perhaps destroyed by fire . Robert Oliver was , according to the 1927 city directory , president I, of the Oliver-Stout Implement Co . A " Record of Water Service" card dated June 11 , 1936 and signed by Mrs . Edith Oliver specifies : "Abandon old service for 5th and put in new one from Curtiss " . The new service from Curtiss probably served this house when it was newly built . The original house on this site , built by W . H . Cline , may have been similar to 324 S . 5th , a four square type house , which would have completed the evident symmetry of this side of the block , which was constructed completely by Cline .
