One of the few outstanding houses built during the Depression
in the district , this unique stuccoed residence combines neo-
classical elements of the Spanish Colonial Revival ( Mission )
style with a roof representative of Medieval thatched roofs ,
generally associated with the Tudor Revival style .
Raymond H . Genty , a plaster contractor , is listed as the owner on
the 1937 sewer permit , though in the 1940 city directory his
residence is listed as 210 S . Grand . Genty
role in the con-
struction of the house is unclear , though it is possible that he
was responsible for the exterior stucco finish , which forms three
recessed , semi -circular blind fanlights over the door and each
sidelight .
` J . Alex Shadoan , manager of Gallatin Hardware , is listed in the
1940 city director-y as the resident , along with his wife Alma
W . Shadoan . These may have been the original owners .
