Significance
Typical of Depression period housing but unique in Bozeman , this
building contains two separate housing units , and has two addresses ,
in this case on different streets .
Like other houses on this block ( see 609 and 616 S . 5th) this
one was probably built by Dr . Bernard J . Heetderks for rental
or sale . Mrs . Katherine Heetderks , who signed the water and
sewer permits for the site , was probably Bernard Heetderks '
wife .

Description
This stucco , 112 story duplex is composed of two 2x2 bay , jerkin
head roofed blocks , joined by a flush 2-bay , pitched roofed wing .
Each section has a gabled entrance vestibule with a strap-hinged ,
off- center door in a stepped brick surround , and served by a
brick stoop . Next to each is a narrow , casement sash window .
Casement sash windows also occur in the gables ( oriented east-
west) which are not covered by a vestibule gable . Other windows
occur paired and tripled , and have 4/ 1 sash . Extensions of the
stucco walls form skew corbels that terminate all eaves . The
north end of the west wall , an extension of the wall forms a
round headed opening leading to the basement stair , which is covered
by a small shed roofed enclosure .
