Department of Sanitation PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structurelsite,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with a south side bay window, an enclosed hipped front porch with gable overdoor, and an asymmetrical facade consisting of an off-center front entrance with fixed and 16/1 double-hung windows , with tapered trim on all windows. The frame construction is finished in beveled 2" siding with shingles on the gable ends. Belly band on the main and second floor lines and horizontal and vertical boards on the shingles over the gable ends creat a half-timbered effect. The foundation is concrete with parge finished,scored to resemble cut stone. The gable roof is covered with cedar shingles and features wall dormers on each side and overhanging eaves with exposed rafters. There is an interior stucco chimney with a chimney cap and an offset exterior stucco chimney flanked by stained glass windows. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street. Outbuildings include a garage and shed of drop siding. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property. This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to Its association with the residential aspect of the Progressive Phase of Bozemanrs historic/architectural development.
