Re: Rouse Public Safety Complex
Dear Mayor Andrus:
We have appreciated the opportunity to work with City leaders to find a joint solution to the
public safety facilities problem facing the citizens of Gallatin County and Bozeman. We believe
constructing joint facilities makes the most sense for tax payers. However,we also respect the
City Commission's desire to further analyze building a stand-alone municipal public safety
complex on Rouse. It is our strong desire to continue to work together;the City and County
spent considerable time and resources designing joint facilities and taking the project to the
voters in November, 2016 and we believe it is still the best project, despite the vote being
unsuccessful.
At the regularly scheduled City Commission meeting of January 22, 2018 City leaders
indicated that they need additional time to analyze the costs and benefits of a Rouse project.
Has the City made a decision? If the City decides they would prefer to build on Rouse, the
County will move forward with a stand-alone project. Please give us an update on the analysis
and when the decision can be expected.
Sincerely,
GALLATIN COUNTY COMMISSION
R. Stephen White, Chairman
