709 S. 6th Ave.
1985 revision
Matt Cohen, surveyor
Typical of the numerous modest Bungalows built in the district because of
its overall form, this house is distinguished by its decorative exposed
rafter tails and purlins, which appear to be of Japanese origin.
In 1927 the house was vacant.
Mrs. Sanford Moore, wife of rancher Sanford Moore, signed the sewer and
water permits for both this house, and 701 S. 6th Ave. nearby, where
she and her husband resided. The Moores may have built both houses. The
builder may have been Elmer L. Bartholomew for, in addition to visual
clues , two adjacent houses, 701 S. 6th Ave. are attributed to that
builder.
