This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with a projecting gable entrance hood. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance with fixed and 3/1 and 1/1 double- hung windows. The frame construction is finished in shingles and rests on a raised concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with grey asphalt shingles and features a shed-roofed dormer and overhanging eaves with exposed rafters. There is one central brick chimney. The axis of the roof is perpen- dicular to the street and there is a garage under the house. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property. Significance: This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to its association with the residential aspect of the Progressive Phase of Bozeman ' s historic/architectural development. INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structure/site,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the property. Bartholomew , brother of another local builder - Elmer L . Bartholomew , this house is a fine example of the Bungalow style . It is distinguished from the numerous other examples of the style in the district by subtle variations in detailing and proportion . J . A. Bartholomew ' s other known house , 807 S . 6th Ave . stands across the street . The house may have been built for David T . Griffith , an osteopathic physician .
