306 S . 7th Ave .
1985 revision
Matt Cohen , surveyor
This small house is one of the outstanding elements in the
district as one of the very few structures showing a strong
shingle style influence , and as a well preserved example of a
pattern book house . The design for the building appears to have
been derived from "House Design No . 1092 " in Fred T . Hodgson ' s
turn of the century , mail order , house pattern catalog .
Practical Bungalows and Cottages for Town and Country ( See appendix) .
The house appears to• have been built as a pair , along with
303 S . 6th Ave . , which stands on the adjoining lot to the rear .
The two were probably very similar when built , though 303 S .
6th has since been severely altered .
Little is known of the early history of this house . In 1927 ,
William M. Robinson , a farmer , and his wife Florence S . Robinson ,
lived here , though perhaps for as short a period as one winter
season .
