PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structurelsite,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,
noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features.
This detached one-story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with
four concrete steps leading to an entrance porch with solid railing of beveled
siding and supported by four square, wooden columns. The one-bay facade is
asymmetrical and consists of a central front entrance flanked by 1/1 double-hung
windows. The frame construction is finished in beveled clapboard with red
shingles in the gable end over the front porch. It rests on a cinderblock
(possibly over concrete) foundation. The gable roof is covered with grey
asphalt shingles and features overhanging eaves and exposed rafters. There
is one rear brick chimney. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street.
Outbuildings include a garage.

Probably one of the several houses built in the 19 ' teens by
local carpenter Ora E . Long , this house is a typical , well pre-
served example of the Bungalow style in Bozeman . Two other
comparable houses on this block are attributed to Long , 515
and 518 S . 7th Ave .
By 1927 , Birger L . Johnson , as assistant professor at Montana
State College , and his wife Elizabeth A . Johnson , resided here .
