Herbert Howell , this small Bungalow style building is very well preserved , and in one of three small buildings in the district built as grocery stores . It is also one of the few buildings not built as residences . The central door , and flanking , large windows are clues to the original function of this building . The College Hill Grocery is indicative of the modest growth of this . southern section of the district in the early 1930 ' s . Howell lived in a small Bungalow style house directly behind this building , 601 S . 6th Ave . , since at least as early as 1927 , and had run a small grocery at 614 W . Dickerson St . before opening this store . Bib1io ram Application for Sewer Connection , August 6 , 1919 , Mrs . E . W . Redford ( crossed out , with " H . Howell " written in ) .
